(01) About this tool

What the Schema Markup Generator does

Structured data is a block of JSON-LD in the page that describes what the page is about in a vocabulary (schema.org) that search engines read directly: this is an article by this author published on this date, this is a product at this price in stock, these are the questions and answers on the page. Google uses it to show rich results such as star ratings, FAQ drop-downs, recipe cards, event dates and breadcrumbs, and to understand the entity behind a site. Writing it by hand is error-prone because a missing comma or a misspelled property fails silently.

This generator gives you a form for each type and writes the JSON-LD as you type: Article and BlogPosting, Organization, LocalBusiness with opening hours and address, Product with one or more offers, FAQPage with repeatable question rows, BreadcrumbList with ordered items, WebSite with a search action, Event, Person, Recipe and VideoObject. Each form knows which properties Google requires for that type and shows a note when one is missing, so you know before you publish whether the block is complete.

The output is wrapped in a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag, ready to paste anywhere in the page. Nothing is sent to our server. After adding it, test the live URL with the Rich Results Test or our schema validator.

(02) How to use

Step by step

  1. 01Choose the schema type that matches the page. One page may carry several blocks, for example Article plus BreadcrumbList.
  2. 02Fill in the fields. Use absolute URLs for images and pages, ISO dates (YYYY-MM-DD) and plain numbers for prices.
  3. 03For FAQ, breadcrumb and offer lists, add a row for each item with the plus button and remove the ones you do not need.
  4. 04Read the validity note. Required properties are listed when they are empty; recommended ones improve the chance of a rich result.
  5. 05Copy the script tag into the page, publish, and confirm with Google's Rich Results Test.
(03) FAQ

Common questions

Anywhere in the document; the <head> is conventional but the end of <body> works too. Google reads it after rendering, so blocks injected by JavaScript are also picked up, though a server-rendered block is safer for other crawlers.

Not directly. It makes the page eligible for rich results, which take more space and get more clicks at the same position, and it helps Google connect the page to the right entity. A page with wrong or spammy markup can receive a manual action, so describe only what is visible on the page.

Validity makes a page eligible, not guaranteed. Google also weighs page quality, whether the marked-up content is visible, and the type: FAQ rich results, for example, were restricted in 2023 to government and health sites. Product and Recipe results still appear widely.

Yes. Put the objects in an array or use an @graph property. The generator writes one block per type; paste several blocks into the page, or merge them into one array by hand, both are read the same way.

BlogPosting is a subtype of Article for posts on a blog; NewsArticle is another subtype for news. Google treats all three the same for the article rich result, so pick the one that describes the page most accurately.
